Information regard scholarships are on a separate page and can be found here.

College Visits

Juniors and Seniors have two college visits available to each school year.  There is a form to complete prior to your visit for the absence to be appropriately marked. For college visitation forms, please see Mrs. Roper. To schedule a college visit, you may either call the college admissions office or go to the college website and schedule the visit online.  Not all colleges have that option, but many do.  If you need help scheduling a college visit, feel free to stop by the student services office and Dr. Martin will assist you.  For more information regarding college visits, please click here.

Rend Lake College

Rend Lake College is a great option for many BCHS students. For more information regarding testing, applying, and scholarships, please visit here.

RLC's application can be found at rlc.edu/admissions.

The Foundation Scholarship Application, RLC's one application for all their scholarships, can be found at rlc.edu/rend-lake-college-foundation. The application for the 2025-2026 school year opens on January 1st. The priority deadline is March 1st.

FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is completed by seniors and their parents/guardians before the student attends college. FAFSA is used to determine how much federal, state, and institutional money a student will receive to help them pay for their college education.

FAFSA for the 2025-2026 school year will open on December 1st. When it is available, the application can be found at fafsa.gov.

The State of Illinois requires all seniors to complete the FAFSA or a Non-participation Form.

*You must complete a FSA ID 3 days prior to FAFSA Completion.* This needs to be done for both the student and parent. If parents are married or remarried and they file their taxes jointly, only one parent needs an FSA ID. If parents file their taxes separately, they will each need an FSA ID. FSA IDs can be created here.

If you do not plan to attend college, you can complete a non-participation form. Instructions on how to complete the form can be found here.

Letter of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation are often required for scholarship applications, or sometimes even admittance to college. Many BCHS staff members will ask students to complete a recommendation request form in order to write them a letter. The form can be found here. Please make sure you request a letter at the minimum at least 10 days priors to needing it.

Military

If a student is planning on enlisting in the military they will be required to have an ASVAB score. BCHS typically hosts the ASVAB once a year. Currently, sign ups for this year's ASVAB are live and can be found here. Sign ups will close on October 10th. The test will take place on October 29th.

If you would like to meet with a military recruiter, or would like more information regarding one of the branches, please email Dr. Martin at mmartin@bchs103.org and she can help coordinate a meeting.

Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment

BCHS offers a wide variety of dual credit/dual enrollment college opportunities for our students that are juniors or seniors. Students have two avenues for earning college credit while in high school. The first, dual credit, allows the student to enroll in college courses during the high school day and earn both high school and college credit. The second, dual enrollment, allows the student to enroll in college courses outside of the school day and earn college credit. The courses BCHS offered through Dual Credit can be found by clicking here.

Rend Lake College CTE Program of Study

Rend Lake College has put together Programs of Study for a large portion of their CTE programs. This is a tool for students to see the classes they should take in high school and what classes would be in their future for their chosen major. This is a great resource for students if they know they are interested in one of these specific programs.
