2023-24 Illinois Youth Survey Announcement
On February 22, 2024, Benton Consolidated High School will be conducting the Illinois Youth Survey with all of our 10th and 12th graders. The IYS is administered in schools across the state every two years. The purpose of the IYS is to better understand experiences and behaviors as they relate to students, their success, and the programs that may be needed to keep them safe and healthy. Students will be asked to complete an anonymous survey that will be administered in school. The survey asks about topics including activities, school experiences, violence/safety, and nutrition, as well as tobacco, vaping, and substance use. The survey is completely voluntary. We would greatly appreciate you allowing your child to participate in the survey. If you have questions about the Illinois Youth Survey please contact Mr. Sean Docherty (618-439-3103, sdocherty@bentonhighschool.org). If you do not want your child to participate, sign and return the parent notification form to the Main Office in care of Mrs. Gayla McClerren.
The BCHS Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2024 will be on Saturday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outdoors at Tabor Field.

BCHS would like to thank the West Frankfort Masonic Lodge for their generous donation of $1,500 in memory of Landen, Joecy, and Bradley. The donation will be split evenly between the football, wrestling, and cheerleading programs at BCHS.

1st Semester Exams will be December 20, 21, and 22. December 20th and 21st are
1:50 pm dismissals and December 22 is an 11:45 am dismissal.
Our Exam policy has changed this year so that everyone must take their Semester Exams in all of their classes with no exemptions and the exam percentage for a student's total grade has been reduced from 20% to 10%.
If a student is unable to attend their scheduled semester exam they have until January 15th to make up their exam.
As we enter the winter season, BCHS will again utilize e-learning if school is cancelled due to snow, ice, etc. The e-learning plan is available on the district website in the menu under documents/Students & Parents. Students should take their chromebook home each night, which will assist with any work assigned for e-learning. The decision to utilize an e-learning day will be announced at the same time school is cancelled.
